It’s best to stretch warm muscles so I created this warmup routine prior to stretching to get my legs going before hitting the ice. Taught it to UCLA Hockey and now I’m sharing it with you. Let’s go!
- Prisoner squat (legs together)
- Squat into a squat jump
- Single leg lunges (forward and back)
- Single leg jump lunges
- Lateral lunge stretch
- Power stride jumps
- Step ups
- Bulgarian split squat
Pre-skate, I run through this circuit once before stretching. You can go through this circuit 3-4 times as a solid leg workout using body weight or add dumbbells.
