Dotsie & Kirk are like two peas in a pod. Incredible that it’s been 15 years since I had the honor of marrying this plant-powered super couple. Since that day, Dotsie went on to cap her pro cycling career by winning an Olympic silver medal.
Always her No. 1 supporter and an accomplished bike racer in his own light, Kirk uprooted his life multiple times to live with Dotsie at the Olympic Training Center and at Team USA’s training camp in Spain in the months leading up to the 2012 London Games. Paramahansa Yogananda said that those who do not have children should take on the responsibility for a larger family. Dotsie & Kirk do this by rescuing Chihuahuas and advocating for the animals via two nonprofits.
First, Dotsie launched Compassion Champs and a year later, she founded Switch4Good, an organization advocating, empowering and inspiring a dairy-free lifestyle. You saw her in “The Game Changers,” you’ve heard her cohosting the Switch4Good podcast and see her all over the world in the press, speaking at animal rights conferences and leading vegan athlete panels.
While it may appear that she’s the radiant star of this power couple, Kirk has been Dotsie’s champion every step of the way and vice versa. Together, they find strength, power and courage in their partnership. “We were talking last night about how each other’s support of the other has led us to some extraordinary things that maybe we would not have had the confidence, energy or proverbial backbone to try,” Dotsie said the day after their 15th wedding anniversary earlier this week.
Happy anniversary, Dotsie & Kirk! Thank you for being extraordinary, for all you do for the animals and for being #vibrantNRGizers
