It’s amazing how the universe (and hockey) brings people together. In February, Kevin joined one of the pickup hockey games that I organize. A couple weeks later, he came to sit with me at a Kings game. His mother was with him. Jodie had been an endurance runner who was diagnosed last year with two tumors.
She made it her mission to fight them with diet, meditation and positive energy. As much as she wanted to go plant-based, something was off and she couldn’t stick to it for medical reasons. I connected Jodie with nutritionist Matt Ruscigno, who I knew would guide her successful transition. Now Jodie feels “phenomenal.” Her energy and endurance are better than since her diagnosis, allowing Jodie to run most days. “When I think back to how I was feeling earlier this year, there is no comparison. I have diversified my workouts, adding bike riding and hiking with meetup groups.
I tackled “the rock“ in Griffith Park and surprised myself. Doing lots of fun runs, hikes and yoga flows. I hardly ever need a nap anymore. That is a miracle,” said Jodie, who attributes some of her newfound energy to her spiritual practice.
“I’m 57 years young and feeling fabulous these days. I’m so grateful to you and Matt for your guidance and encouragement to become plant based.” Jodie, your warrior spirit, your persistence and perseverance, your compassion and your positive energy make you a #vibrantNRGizer. – Rick
