Pre-stretch Warmup

It’s best to stretch warm muscles so I created this warmup routine prior to stretching to get my legs going before hitting the ice. Taught it to UCLA Hockey and now I’m sharing it with you. Let’s go!

  1. Prisoner squat (legs together)
  2. Squat into a squat jump
  3. Single leg lunges (forward and back)
  4. Single leg jump lunges
  5. Lateral lunge stretch
  6. Power stride jumps
  7. Step ups
  8. Bulgarian split squat

Pre-skate, I run through this circuit once before stretching. You can go through this circuit 3-4 times as a solid leg workout using body weight or add dumbbells.
